Yarmouth is many things to many people with diverse reasons for visiting, living, and working here and we have three local artists to capture them. The exhibition is a celebration of Yarmouth with artwork representing the seaside, town, docks, river and historic South Quay. Each artist focusses on different aspects: Peter Rodulfo captures in a playful storytelling way scenes of the everyday, treading the line between dreams and reality. Andrew Dibben's watercolours include a new body of work on South Quay and the river at night, with boats that work locally and travel up and down the Yare. Katarzyna Coleman paints and draws atmospheric views of the docks and the industrial areas of the town.

Whilst celebrating current local artists we also acknowledge the work of the late John Dashwood and to this end his family have lent some small paintings to us for this show. For many of us, it's his murals adorning Time and Tide and the Drill House still in place today that he will be remembered for.

We are also fortunate to have other creatives on board for our newly created shop including Keri Lowe who is busy creating a new range of pottery featuring herrings, which Yarmouth is synonymous with, and 2 screen printers: Gabbi Minas' work shows the fun side of the Golden Mile and we have Mandy Doubt's range of Straight Outta Yarmouth!

In our projection room we will be showing aerial images taken by John Fielding from his plane - showing Great Yarmouth and its environs in a new way, as many of us will not have seen the town from the sky.

Within the exhibition you will see some historic advertising posters on loan from the Borough Council and we also acknowledge some of the iconic brands still manufacturing in the town since Victorian times - Lacons in the dock area and Yarmouth Oilskins on South Quay.

Events will take place during the exhibition, including a get together for alumni and staff of Great Yarmouth Art School - prior to a show of their work here later in the year.

We would love our visitors to share their stories and memories of Yarmouth with us, and cards will be across the galleries to record this. Whether it's working at Lacons, Yarmouth Oil Skins or living in our old merchant's house on South Quay we'd love to find out.

So do pop along - it's free to enter, we have parking beside the building, or the bus/train stations are just a stroll away. There is lots going on here in the 'quieter' months of the year - we look forward to seeing you!
