Hey everyone, I’m really excited that my original Christmas single ‘St Benedict’s Christmas Fair’ is now available on iTunes! The song is a bittersweet acoustic ballad about how hard it is saying goodbye during the festive period. I had the song written for awhile and it’s a really personal one, all the mixture of emotions felt when I was leaving home to embark on a new adventure. It’s the first single that I’ve recorded and played all the guitars, percussion and vocals, and mixed myself which was really fulfilling. I love the magical creative process of layering a track and the song has already earned radio airplay and some lovely reviews:

Deafening Silence

As a visitor to Norfolk I thought you would be interested learning about my observations on my own patch. I wrote ‘Time to Stare’, my personal overview of twenty five years of watching wildlife which was published in 2005 by Norfolk Publishing House Grice Chapman. I expressed concern regarding the decline and long term survival of some of the birds of the area but I never foresaw the dramatic decline that has occurred in the four years since. Walking around the area this spring the lack of birdsong was frightening, it caused me to reflect on what it must be like to lose your hearing, all those magical sounds gone forever, the silence was deafening.

Lisa Redford is widely proclaimed as one of the nation's finest singer/songwriters. Her three albums to date, 'Slipstream', 'Lost Again' and 'Clouds With Silver', as well as her live album recorded at Norwich Arts Centre, have seen her evolve from her Norfolk upbringing to mixing it with some of New York's most respected musicians. Lisa has a new EP, 'Reminders' for sale and is playing a special homecoming show at The Bicycle Shop on St Benedict's Street. Allthingsnorfolk caught up with her over a coffee at the aforementioned venue a few days ahead of the gig to discuss her latest release and delve into the origins of her music.

Mila Falls started writing songs at the age of 12 and hasn't stopped since! Mila used to be a pupil of the Hewett School in Norwich, has a degree in music production, ran a music venue for 2 years, acted as a live sound engineer for touring acts and produced music for a play. Oh and I nearly forgot to mention Mila supported Ringo Starr a few months ago, has worked as a session singer, is currently working on her debut album which will be out later this year and has flirted with a couple of well- known TV shows. Oh yes, our Mila is a bit of a smarty pants. Make yourself comfortable, fasten your seatbelts and join me on a journey through the wonderful world of Mila Falls.
