Councillor praises unsung hero

Local Councillor Clayton Hudson has been praising the efforts of unsung hero Phil Pearce.

When the owner of the local shop Bossyboots in Pulham St Mary had to isolate due to health issues, carpenter Phil offered to help.

Councillor Hudson said: “Phil has been making deliveries to local people who are isolating in the Pulhams and surrounding villages. He has also been collecting food and goods for the shop at the Cash & Carry.

Without any fuss, he has quietly helped keep Bossyboots going and ensured local people can still use their shop, he should be applauded for his selfless efforts.”

Phil said: “I can’t work at the moment, so I am more than happy to help out where I can. Everyone is very appreciative and it’s just nice to be doing something to help.”

Phil drives a yellow van, which has affectionately been nicknamed by locals and staff at the shop as Thunderbird 4.

Phil said: “I have become known as Dick Tracy, the special delivery agent. They’ve made me posters for my van and I even have a hat!”

Councillor Hudson added: “It’s been amazing to see the community pull together during this difficult time, I’m so proud to be part of it.”
