Lisa Redford playing at the O2

Hey everyone! Already it’s looking to be a busy year. Huge thanks to Mustard TV for broadcasting my interview and featuring my December headline show recently on The Music Mash and to Country music website W21 Music for kindly made my song ‘Carolina Rain’ their single of the week.

Plus, I’m really excited to announce that I'll be playing one of the Pop Up Stages at C2C Country to Country Festival at The O2 for the second year running! C2C has become the biggest country music festival in the UK with lots of acclaimed artists; singer/songwriters, Americana and country, from around the world also performing.

BBC Radio 2 will be broadcasting live coverage from the festival with their new pop-up DAB radio service dedicated to country music and there will be a special stage by my friends Bob Harris and WBBC as part of their Under the Apple Tree Sessions.

Here’s the info about me on the C2C site. I’ll be playing the Saloon on Sunday March 8th at 2.10, do come by and say hi!

C2C Festival runs from Saturday March 7th to Sunday March 8th. Pop Up Stages are free to attend

Bicycle Shop show – supporting The Dreaming Spires, Wednesday March 4th

After my special headline show at the Bicycle Shop (thanks so much to everyone for coming along and making it such a lovely night), I’m looking forward to returning there on March 4th to support talented friends The Dreaming Spires. Here’s some info about them:

Robin and Joe have carved out some renown as accomplished musicians as well as co-founders of acclaimed festivals, a label and even a record store. Their musical pedigree includes stints in Goldrush and Danny & the Champs, touring and recording with Mark Gardener of Ride, and collaborations with everyone from Gary Louris of The Jayhawks to Garth Hudson of The Band, Mercury Rev to Saint Etienne

Ticket info for the show is here

New Video Shoot

Here are a couple of photos from a new video that I’ve been working on in the area with Claudia Taveira Photography. We already filmed some outside shots at the end of last year and we can’t wait to share it with you when it’s done!

Passenger Acoustic Cover

Another free download for you and here’s a live acoustic cover of a beautiful Passenger song. The lyrics really  resonated with me  and I love his writing. It  was exciting that the artist himself took the time to listen and described the version as ‘lovely’. Listen and download here

  • Musicians are hoping charity single in memory of Connor raises more than £1,000 for EACH

Five talented musicians have vowed to glean something positive from a harrowing situation by releasing a charity single in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

Norfolk indie-rock band Red Wine Talk hope to raise more than £1,000 and will be releasing The Deep Blue Sea Between Us on 1st December.

Songwriter and guitarist Callum Robb says the ambient, ten-minute track “fell from his guitar” – but admits it was driven by raw emotion because it is in memory of friend Connor Clark. The 18-year-old was training at the Royal Marine Commando Training Centre, in Devon, and died on 12th June, 2021. His body was found near a railway track.

Now Callum and Co have decided to release their charity single for EACH and headed into the studio to record it on 7th November. It will now be fully mixed and mastered for release on all streaming platforms and CD.

  • One in the Crowd, New Charity Song for Safe Rescue for Dogs

As some of you know, last year I wrote a fundraising single for Norwich community station Future Radio, This Fine City - a celebration of Norwich and also a message of hope with us all coming together to get through this challenging and unprecedented time. It felt very rewarding that it was received so well, gaining radio airplay and local media coverage - including being featured here in an article I wrote for All Things Norfolk - whilst, more importantly, raising funds to help Future find a new city centre studio.

It’s continued to be a challenging start to the year for us all; for myself, with the lack of gigs and festivals on the horizon, it can be hard to find inspiration. I wanted to start the year on a positive note; be creative, while also doing something good, and felt that I wanted to do something for another local charity. One in the Crowd is a new acoustic song in aid of Safe Rescue for Dogs, whose events I have previously attended. As a huge animal lover and dog walker - mostly to springer spaniel Wesley who was also my co-star in the video for From Afar, a single I wrote and recorded during the first lockdown - I know the joy and unconditional love that they bring into our lives.

  • Future Radio Fundraising Single “This Fine City” by Lisa Redford and Friends

In her latest feature for All Things Norfolk, Lisa focuses on the exciting launch of her fundraising single in aid of Future Radio  "This Fine City" about Norwich and how we're all coming together znd overcoming this tough time.

"I began volunteering at Future Radio in 2018, regularly hosting the Afternoon Session and also briefly covering NR Sounds which showcases bands and artists from Norwich and the surrounding areas of Norfolk and North Suffolk. It has been so rewarding and enjoyable to be part of the station - certainly been a real buzz broadcasting live to listeners and sharing my passion for music"

"I am particularly drawn to its fantastic specialist music programming covering a mix of various genres including soul/Motown, electronica, Americana, film and TV soundtracks, drum and bass, reggae, hip hop, indie, rock/metal, afrobeat/world, as well as being a platform for anyone in Norwich with something to announce, promote or share. Its eclectic, BBC 6Music-style daytime playlist showcases new music from emerging artists and many shows have national and international listeners".

  • Lisa Redford - From Afar

All Things Norfolk business member, singer-songwriter and music tutor Lisa Redford has written and recorded a brand new song at home during the lockdown "From Afar"

Lisa got her inspiration for writing this song when walking in her local area in Norwich and seeing a poster in a window which said "know you are loved from afar" . The song is all about missing loved ones but knowing that we can still love and care from them "From Afar" until we meet again. Once the song was written Lisa then recorded an acoustic version of it from her home studio.

We highly recommend that you take a listen to "From Afar" by visiting https://lisaredford.bandcamp.com/track/from-afar  and support this talented local artist by purchasing the song digitally for £1 . You can also view the video by visiting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfnukKmLcqc

  • Young musicians re-live Mozart with a classical weekend in North Norfolk

On Friday 28 February, over 275 children from 8 local schools attended open rehearsals at the Auden Theatre in Holt.

The children, aged between 7 and 12 were invited to hear members of the London Mozart Players performing pieces in rehearsal, ahead of their public performance later that evening. Amongst the programme was Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4 performed by horn player Ben Goldscheider, who was the winner of Brass Section of the BBC Young Musician of the Year winner 2016, when he was 18 years old.

Saturday (29th) saw over 80 young brass, strings and woodwind musicians taking in a free workshop to perform as an orchestra. For the workshop, specialist music tutor Helen Stowell of the Norfolk Music Service specially arranged a range of pieces from Mozart’s Horn Concerto to Havana, by Camilla Cabello. For many of these young musicians, this was their very first ensemble performance and a unique moment to play great orchestral pieces with other musicians.
