Our loyal band of customers already know how good the food and drink is at The Fur and Feather Inn - it's what keeps them coming back. Don't just take our word for it, we're featured in the Good Pub Guide, CAMRA's Good Beer Guide and nominated for local awards. Here's why...

It's a beautiful setting to eat or drink, a thatched pub, in one of Broadland's prettiest villages. The atmosphere is as traditional as the setting. Friendly staff behind the oak topped bar, the day's newspapers on top of it. A welcoming fire and no TV, juke box or pool table. Next door is Woodforde's brewery. We serve their award winning ales straight from the cask.

A great place to come for a drink but the Fur and Feather is probably defined by its food. Here traditional meets modern, whether you choose to eat in the restaurant, the bar or large garden. Our chefs have built up a countywide reputation. Steak-and-kidney pudding fans have been known to travel from as far as Fakenham and Lowestoft after hearing about ours!

It's traditional English fare all home-made, seasonal and local where possible. There's always more than 20 main courses to choose from and menus change regularly and our specials boards change daily. Where possible, we use local suppliers. Coxford's butchers at Aylsham make our half pound burgers especially for us. It's all complimented by an exceptional wine list.

Chris Crowther spent 42 years of his working life flying aeroplanes and helicopters in various parts of the world, mainly West Africa as Chief Pilot of a helicopter operation, and where his first books were written. After hanging up his flying helmet, he skippered passenger boats on the Norfolk Broads where he now lives with his wife Sue, rowing and sailing while plotting his next “Jack Fellows” adventure.

THE “JACK FELLOWS” SERIES OF MURDER AND MYSTERY

Dastardly deeds are not something you automatically associate with Norfolk, but local author Chris Crowther has gone even further and used the tranquil magic of Broadland as the setting for his series of whodunits.

The sleuth in these stories is Jack Fellows, a navigation ranger with the Broads Authority, who spends his days patrolling the waterways, assisting boaters and enforcing the river by-laws. Like many rangers, he has a police background, in his case as a Detective Superintendant with Scotland Yard, and a copper’s instinct that looks beyond the carefree boating to a rather more sinister world of strange happenings and questionable deaths. For Jack, much to the dismay of his long-suffering wife, Audrey, this is just grist to the mill of his investigative skills. And so, amongst marsh and reedbed, old boatyards, dilapidated windpumps and unique wildlife, wrongdoers are pursued, though with many a twist en route, to a solution that will challenge every armchair detective until the very last page.

WATERPROOF – A brutal murder, but the police soon have their man . . . or have they?

STILL WATERS – A girl inherits a boatyard from her grandfather . . . except she’s never heard of either before in her life.

THE WATER FROLIC – A joint endeavour might just reconcile two very different communities, until . . .

WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE – How do you solve a crime that had to be impossible in the first place?

MURKY WATERS – The simple contents of a long-lost handbag lead down a trail that becomes ever murkier.

DEAD IN THE WATER – Could a despised new landowner really be the victim of a time-slip?

PSH Environmental are a family owned and run skip hire and waste management company in Norwich. Having started the business in 1985, PSH Environmental have over 35 years’ experience in the industry and are ever-developing new technology in their skip yard to make this process simpler and more environmentally friendly for everyone.

Since the beginning the goal for PSH Environmental has always been to succeed in sending zero waste to landfill. Working in conjunction with Seneca Environmental Solutions, PSH Environmental is one of three household waste treatment and disposal plants used by Norfolk County Council.

IMG_5885_edit.JPG

First and foremost, PSH Environmental is a skip hire company, having always manufactured and hired out their skips from the very start. They have a range of skips suitable for domestic use, commercial renovations and construction developments. These include 2-12 yard skips and roll-on skips, as well as asbestos and plasterboard specialist skips.

IMG_5880_edit.JPG

An extraction process is carried out for every skip received in the yard to ensure all waste is segregated to either be used again, recycled or disposed of appropriately. From this, PSH Environmental have extracted aggregate materials that can be re-used for the likes of driveways, roads, potholes, building sites, new build foundations and walls, and much more. If you’d like to purchase a bag of these from PSH Environmental, call them on 01603 721533 to discuss your requirements.

PSH-2812_edit.jpg

Whilst PSH Environmental doesn’t accept plasterboard being disposed of in their skips (as once mixed with other waste, this material makes it difficult to separate waste that can be reused), this doesn’t mean that you need to hire an entire specialist plasterboard skip to remove it from your property. PSH Environmental do provide the option to purchase plasterboard sacks with your skip and as many as you want depending on how much you have to dispose of.

PSH Environmental work to make the skip hire process as simple as possible for its customers but are aware that many questions arise when looking to hire a skip due to different property types, waste disposal, parking permissions, and so on. Should you have a question, PSH Environmental do work to answer as many as they can on their blog or call a member of their team on 01603 721533.
