Tours tripled around Stories of Lynn

Guided tours around the Stories of Lynn Museum & Old Gaol House are now available on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 1pm. The tours were previously only available on Tuesdays, but thanks to a team of volunteer guides, their availability has now tripled. The tours last between 45 minutes and an hour, and are included in the price of admission to the museum.

Pop-ups arrive on Norwich Market

A dynamic new group of stalls have 'popped up' on Norwich Market giving budding small businesses and traders the opportunity to try their hand at selling in the heart of the city centre. The nine new pop-ups aim to bring an extra buzz to the market through inviting traders to set up temporarily and provide shoppers with an ever-changing range of products to explore. Norwich Science Festival

The inaugural city-wide Norwich Science Festival has today announced its first wave of headline talks and events. For two weeks this autumn, science is celebrated with a packed programme of fascinating exhibitions, hands-on family activities, inspiring celebrity talks and noisy theatrical shows for all ages and all levels of scientific knowledge. The festival takes place 18 – 30 October 2016 and is being organised by The Forum, Norwich, with the support of many partner organisations.

There’s a special pumpkin trail (October 31 and November 1), pumpkin carving competition (October 28) and fireworks on the seafront (October 28), along with extra pumpkin fun and Halloween events and activities at businesses throughout the borough, from October 24 to November 1

An exciting programme of free tours and drop in events is on offer in the Borough of Great Yarmouth during Heritage Open Days weekend, Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 September. Book a tour back to World War II at ‘Blitz Street’ Scratby (10-13 September), or a guided walk On the Warpath: Piers and Bombs (10 September). Go on a tour featuring the Great & the Good Great Yarmouth (11 September) and get behind the scenes in Great Yarmouth Community Library (10 and 11 September).

Magna Carta 800

Monday 15 June marks the 800th anniversary of the sealing of King John’s Magna Carta, the document which laid the foundations for the rights and representations we enjoy today. King’s Lynn will celebrate the anniversary on the 13 & 14 June. The Magna Carta 800 weekend will include a whole host of medieval themed activities including falconry displays, craft demonstrations, fire breathing and historical enactments (including a knights’ tournament and a proclamation by King John), which will be based in Tuesday Market Place from 10 am until 4 pm. All activities will be free of charge.

Free Spirit Canoe Tours are launching a new Guided Canoe Trail at Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden on Sunday, June 7. Get close to nature on the canoe trail on Fairhaven Garden’s private broad. No experience is necessary; life jackets and buoyancy aids are supplied. The trails run from 2pm to 3pm and 3pm to 4pm on Sundays, June 7, June 14 and June 28 and all Sundays in July and August; £18 adult, £12.50 child 10-16 and £9.50 child 5-9. Garden entry is included in the price.
