Hey there! hope you’ve all been enjoying the Easter weekend. March was a really busy month. I had another lovely show at The Bicycle Shop when I supported Oxford friends  The Dreaming Spires whose superb new album ‘Searching for the Supertruth’ has been deservedly earning some excellent reviews. It was also fun that Joe from the band joined me on two of my songs, adding some lovely pedal steel. Here’s one of the live songs:

It was a hectic but really fun weekend performing again at C2C Country to Country Festival at The O2. I saw lots of outstanding live music, an eclectic mix of Americana, folk, bluegrass and country and, as last year, there was such a lovely warm atmosphere and it was amazing to see how busy it was. Thanks so much to everyone who came along to my set at the Saloon and signing afterwards to say hi. Thanks also to excellent country music website W21 Music and Jeff G Photography for taking some great live shots. It was a real honour to be selected to play the pop-up stages for the second year running and exciting to have Radio 2‘s Bob Harris, who has really supported my music, invite the audience to listen to my set.

I’ve posted quite a few videos from my performance on my YouTube Channel www.youtube.com/lisaredfordmusic

Following on from last year, here’s another fun little highlights video I’ve put together with a clip of ‘Carolina Rain’ which was also recently featured on Amazing Radio in their all female playlist for International Women's Day

New Interviews

Another great part of playing C2C festival was getting to meet some of my fans and do some interviews with them for their blogs and channels. Here’s a fun interview video with French YouTube Channel L Teste:

Plus an interview with country music blog Six Shooter Country, chatting about playing the festival and my music inspirations:

Record Store Day April 18th

Looking ahead, and one of the music highlights of the month is Record Store Day, a great day on the third Saturday of each April celebrating independent records shops around the world. This year I’m due to play in Cambridge and among the participating stores in Norfolk are Soundclash, who had queues going along St Benedicts last year and Lewks in Downham Market who from 8am have an eclectic line up of live music. Check out www.recordstoreday.co.uk for a full list of events and for more information on the live music in Norfolk.

I had a great time playing two successive Americana nights in Norwich last week. I performed at the historic Guildhall in the city centre for Grapevine for Music, who host regular gigs showcasing quality folk, Americana and country artists. Also performing were superb Norfolk singer-songwriter Jake Morrell, now based in London and fresh from recording in Nashville, and also SJ and the flying Pigs from Cambridge, who create a lovely dreamy sound with acoustic guitar, banjo and fiddle.

I had a lovely time performing at the inaugural Deepdale Festival last month.  In a beautiful North Norfolk setting, and with glorious weather, the weekend showcased all the wonderful local talent the area has to offer. There was a friendly, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and it was a lot of fun having drummer Terry Anderson from The Mojo Preachers join me impromptu during my set.

Congratulations to Jason Borthwick and Chris Haycock for a successful festival, here’s to next year!

  • Lisa Redford Unplugged : Deepdale to Oxjam

I have had a busy time recently playing some great local gigs and enjoyed a fun evening of live music last month at The Garage, Norwich celebrating the release of my student Breeze Redwine’s debut EP ‘Trust’ which has received lots of airplay on BBC Introducing as well as many other radio stations across the world.

There was a really supportive and enthusiastic audience for Breeze who shone on stage and demonstrated her amazing versatility as an artist.  She performed original tracks, as well as favourite songs and duets with myself and local songwriters Kolin Durier and Grant Ley who also performed sets on the night.

  • Festivals - Lisa Redford Unplugged

I had a lovely time performing two acoustic sets at Reepham Festival this month. It was my first time playing the festival and there was such a warm, friendly, laid back atmosphere.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, and expanding to two days, the line up this year had its usual eclectic mix of established names and independent artists. There were great energetic sets by headliners, legendary 2-Toners The Beat, who I have seen before at Reload festival, and powerful rock band Walkway, who have supported The Darkness and Status Quo, and the excellent Jeramiah Ferrair from Leigh near Manchester, who blend rock, ska, funk, reggae and calypso in a refreshingly original way.

  • Nashville to Norwich - Lisa Redford Unplugged

Three wonderful singer songwriters, Sarah Darling, Jenn Bostic and Michael Logen, played a sold out concert last month at Norwich Arts Centre. I was fortunate enough to be asked to support them on the night and performed with brilliant local musician Noel Dashwood, who plays dobro and ukulele on my latest EP ‘Another Place and Time.’

The special concert was part of their ‘A Night In Nashville’ European tour and saw them bringing the Nashville style of playing ‘In the Round’ to a captivated audience. Each songwriter performed their own song in turn and gave an insight into the inspiration behind the material. As a songwriter myself, it was fascinating to hear what inspires their writing.
