What can I expect during a service visit?

When you call P Goodacre Domestic Appliance Repair, you can expect to receive top quality service at a fair price. We will send out a courteous technician with ample training and experience on your specific appliance. Your technician will thoroughly troubleshoot the appliance to determine the root cause of the problem and then provide you with an estimate for the recommended repair. We carry many replacement parts in our vehicles so it is highly likely your repair will be completed in one visit. We never leave a mess behind and we are always happy to answer your questions in detail.

Why did I receive a lower repair quote from another company ??

I will make every effort to offer fair and competitive prices. One common reason that other companies may quote you a lower price is that they are not actually going to complete the repair as recommended by the manufacturer. For example, instead of replacing the entire control board (as many manufacturers recommend) they may want to just replace one damaged component. This may solve the short term problem, but by leaving the old component in place you may be at risk for future problems. You could also be at risk of voiding your warranty protection by not getting the manufacturer recommended repair.

College Farm is a medieval house situated in the village of Thompson three miles from the market town of Watton.  It was built by Katharine's ancestors in 1349 as a College of Priests to serve St Martin's Church and the villagers of Thompson.   The college was dissolved by Henry VIII in 1541 when it then became a private house.

College Farm sits in 17 acres of lawns and woodland on the edge of the village and is the perfect secluded venue for your wedding reception or private party.  B&B accommodation is also available in our en suite rooms.

Our Jacobean dining room is available for hire for private lunch or dinner parties and we also serve traditional cream teas in the garden (weather permitting) or by the fire in the dining room if it's too cold to sit outside.

The Mid-Norfolk Railway Preservation Trust was established in 1995 with the aim of buying and restoring the then-disused line between the Norfolk market towns of Dereham and Wymondham. We currently own 28km (17.5 miles) of track and trackbed through central Norfolk's most attractive countryside, making us one of the largest preserved railways in the UK today.

The line is operational between Dereham and Wymondham, and we own the disused northern section from Dereham as far as County School. The line is intact (although derelict) as far as North Elmham, and a further mile of track will need to be re-laid in order to reach County School. Our long-term aim is to reach as far as Fakenham.

In addition to our passenger services to Wymondham, we also run fairly regular commercial freight trains, as well as the occasional railtour. These result in a wide variety of locomotives visiting Dereham from the main line from time to time, in addition to our fleet of heritage diesel locos.

Many people are surprised to learn that the railway is entirely volunteer-run. Our volunteers get up to a wide variety of tasks, including driving the trains, maintaining the track and lineside, getting greasy inside engines, and many other interesting jobs besides.

The rate of progress in restoring and upgrading the railway has been very rapid over the last few years, and we hope it will continue that way. Current projects are aimed at improving the railway's infrastructure, including track and signalling. In particular, we are working on building our first signal box, which will control the yard at Dereham; and we are busy restoring the line north of Dereham to operational condition.
